FabLabSD Wiki - level customization

Originating Author: Graham Wideman

Overview

This page discusses the customization that has been applied to fablabsd.wiki.zoho.com at the overall wiki level, as of 2016-01-xx.

These are applied by logging in as site owner or administrator, and visiting Wiki > Settings, and the various tabs there.

Page Zoho wiki customization notes details zoho wiki customization tradeoffs in general.

Choice of theme

Even though most of the appearance of this site is controlled by our custom css, the choice of base theme is important as a starting point to which our custom css adds and subtracts.

The base theme is set via Wiki > Settings > Themes.

The base theme is Cornflower Ribbon.

Custom CSS

We only use a custom CSS file at the wiki level, not at sub-wiki ("workspace") level.

As of this writing, the custom CSS file currently in use is named zoho-flsd-wikip-02.css, and comments at the beginning of the file show a latest version of 2015-10-25. It is currently maintained by Graham W. A current version of the CSS in use can be downloaded by simply grabbing the custom CSS file supplied with pages from this site.

(Inspect the page header, using browser inspector, look for css files, the custom one should be obvious. Currently its link tag appears right before a script tag containing: 'WikiCommon.wikiInfo.CUSTOM_CSSURL="..." '.)

When revising the CSS file, please add a line to the Version History section of the CSS file.

To provide a revised custom CSS file to zoho wiki, visit  Wiki > Settings > Customization.

Page Layout

Wiki > Settings > Customization is the place to set page layout at the Wiki level. Unfortunately, this layout is not inherited by sub wikis, and must be set there as well. See page Action Group setup for details.

Here are the layout settings currently in use.

Top panel layout/settings

Customizations to the top panel, in conjunction with custom CSS, achieve the effect of a top-left corner logo that descends into the left column, and has links for wiki home (and in the case of sub-wikis, a separate link to sub-wiki home).

Using Top Panel > Edit, select Customizable Top Bar.  The following HTML is currently used:

<div id="sitetitle">
  <a href="/" id="flsd-logo"><img src="/_attach/1.1/fablabsd-logo-135x120-transp-01.png"></a>
  <a href="/" id="flsd-page-title">Fab Lab San Diego Wiki</a>
</div>

For the equivalent customization applied to sub-wikis, please see page Action Group setup for details.

The Fab Lab San Diego logo can be grabbed from any page. Also Graham has the (well, an) original file.
